Finding Balance: What My First Year at GEO Has Taught Me

There’s a saying that you spend more time with the people you work with than with your own family and over the past year at Geo, I’ve really come to understand how true that is.

What I didn’t expect, though, is just how meaningful those relationships would become.

Being in your early 20s is a strange space to navigate. There’s this quiet pressure that you should have everything figured out your career, your goals, your life plan. You look around and it can feel like everyone else is ahead, more certain, more established. But one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned this year is that no one really has it all figured out. Everyone is learning as they go.

And more importantly, everyone is just showing up.

Showing up for clients.
Showing up for the team.
Showing up for their families.

At Geo, I’ve been surrounded by people who do exactly that every single day.

I feel especially inspired by the women I work with. Watching them balance so much; careers, motherhood and home life, and still show up with energy, commitment and care is something I don’t take for granted. There’s a strength in that consistency, in the ability to juggle competing priorities while still being present and dependable when it matters most.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about balance.

And balance doesn’t always mean everything is evenly split or perfectly managed. Sometimes it simply means doing your best in the moment you’re in whether that’s delivering for a client, supporting a colleague or being there for your family.

That perspective has completely shifted how I think about growth and success.

My first year at Geo hasn’t just been about developing skills or gaining experience, although that’s been a huge part of it. It’s been about understanding people, learning from those around me and realising that progress looks different for everyone.

What stands out most to me isn’t just the work we do, but the people behind it.

The conversations, the support and the shared moments are what make the experience what it is.

I feel incredibly grateful for the people I’ve met at Geo. That more than anything has been the most special part of this journey so far.

And if there’s one thing I’ll take forward, it’s this you don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to keep showing up.
